Friday night we went to carols by candlelight - which has changed quite a bit since I went to one in Oz 15 years ago. Now you get battery powered tealights to hold and kids get fibre optics to wave around. carols were sung by lots of australian celebrities that we didnt know!
Saturday we got up to go to free aqau aerobics in the outdoor lagoon pool by the river. Definitely much easier to get up and do in Oz. - and you get free yoghurt after!
SO we spent the weekend at the Streets (or Walls as the british know it) Summer Festival - which meant we could watch dances, poetry reading, mad performers and listen to live bands. When we needed to chill out we sat in the pool and watched films on the big screen - Stu got to see Charlie and the Choc factory for the first time! We spent the evening outside listening to a very funky band and then watched a show called spheres which was 4 people on the top of giant poles which swung around our head and emerged from giant lampshades balanced on the top of the poles - Stu thought it represented the season - I just thought it looked scary to dangle from a pole and sway around. We got home to be told that all mel's stuff had been moved out because they thought she had left! err......why would you think that if my stuff is still there!
We watched the southbank grand prix (cycling) which was cool - they cycle around a small track for an hour and then the race is the first three laps after the hour!
Sunday night Mel swam in the hostel pool which has underwater viewing windows which make you feel like you are in an aquarium. There was then a huge thunderstorm!
Love from the place where Stu got pooed on by a seagull - lucky him!
