We felt we had had enough bad luck on boats so we opted for the bus from PP to siem riep. At a fifth of the price of the boat it was a much better deal. So us and the belgians (did you know french fries came from there!) headed on the 7am bus north.
There is a lot of poverty, children begging and grabbing on to your legs. Mel bought postcards from one girl because she could tell us the total population of london and the prime ministers name. This is very strange as many people dont actually know the date they were born only the year so they say they are 26 or 27 as they can never be sure.
We got a friendly dude with a tuk tuk for the afternoon and the next day and went to the temples at 5pm to get our ticket for the next day. This way you get entry to the park for the last 2 hours. We felt a good start was to see all of angkor wat from the air so we went in a hot air balloon which Mel found surprisingly scary but was not as bad as the girl who just sat on the bottom and never looked over the edge. We then walked up the mountain for sunset.
We had an early dinner of delicious pineapple shakes and fried frog (very bony! the frogs lags not the shake)
Love from the country where we were offered spiders as a snack,
mel and stu x
