I flew into Dieppe near Moncton, New Brunswick today from Toronto as I had been there for work during the week and stayed there for the weekend, but unfortunately didn't arrive in N.B. until 8:00 pm. So there was sightseeing that I was going to be doing today.
When I got off the plane and met Mom and Dad in the baggage claim area of the airport, one of the first things they told is that it's a good thing I'm short! Random comment, right? Well, as it turns out, the slide on the camper quit working, so they weren't able to put it out, and the sofa bed (which has an inflatable air mattress in it) wouldn't be able to fold out, and we'd have to put the dinette down for me to sleep on. And yup, it's a good thing I'm short because that dinette isn't too long - I'm pretty sure that sleeping area is for children and midgets. Luckily, I'm shorter than some children and not quite legally a midget, so I fit!
After hearing that great news that the slide had quit working, they went on to say "And you won't be able to sleep in because we have to take the camper in to get fixed first thing. So we should be on the road by 7 am." Great. Just great. First full day of my Atlantic holiday and I'd be up at the crack of dawn (almost)! But, I guess I really can't complain because I am on the East Coast of Canada and I'm pretty happy about that!
Once we quickly gathered my suitcase from the baggage claim (which was really, really fast in that tiny airport!), [side note - the plane was small enough that it didn't need to be connected to the gate in Toronto - we just walked out to it] we headed to the campground for the night and that was that. Time to rest up for the adventures to begin tomorrow!
