Well after 14,500 km we have made it to the east coast (some might suggest we took the long way about getting here!) Today was a big day of driving again - about 10 hours, but we made it to Airlie Beach (Cannonvale) just before dark to the welcoming hugs and kisses of Nanny and Pop (aka, Mum and Dad/Jen and Mick). It was lovely to catch up with them and share some of our adventure stories and hear all the news from at home - thanks for the postcards family!! N...

We needed to get the car fixed today so headed into town early and did a little bit of shopping. After walking back to the caravan park for an early lunch we walked up to the Stockmans Hall of Fame. It was really interesting reading about the pioneers in the outback, the aboriginals that helped them and became stockmen as well. There was a lot of information to read and heaps of olden days items to look at.

Happy Fathers Day! Dad got some nice French toast for breakfast before we headed off to the QANTAS founders museum. We learnt about the beginnings of QANTAS in Winton/Longreach and how the company eventually become an international airline. We had a tour of the Beoing 747. Another long drive today to make it to Longreach. Stopped in Winton for lunch. Thankfully the rain has stopped here (they have had an inch of rain in the past 24 hours, so everything is quite muddy and sloshy).

And yes - it did rain on us! We had quite a bit of rain over night and everything is wet. This is the first time we have seen rain since Renmark about 8 weeks ago. We drove most of the morning in the rain and stopped in at Cloncurry for lunch. We decided to head on to Mckinlay and stop at the "Walk About Creek Hotel". This is the pub that featured in Crocodile Dundee. There was a lot of memorbilia from the movie and the kids even got to hold "Mick's" knife...
