Todays adventure saw us climb aboard an oversized rubber dinghy with more horsepower than should be allowed on a boat and scoot across the sea to swim and snorkel around the Whitsunday Islands. Unfortunately the weather wasn't too kind and the boat driver thought it best to refer to it as the "Wet-Sunday" Islands.
Snorkelling was great - we saw so many different kinds of fish of all colours including a massive humphead wrasse, and some beautiful coral.
The boat then took us to Witsunday Island and we did a bushwalk to the look out over Whitehaven Beach. Lunch was then on Whitehaven beach which is one of the most purest sand beaches in the world - the sand is 99% silica and thats where the white colour comes from. It was strange to walk on the sand as our feet sank in up to our ankles with every step (and in the water bubbles came up too).
The boat ride itself was enjoyed by some and hated by others! It was pretty fast and quite bumpy on the way out, but a bit smoother on the way back in. The driver also liked to do a few show off tricks with doughnuts etc. (pretty cool for those of us not already chewing on our regurgitated lunch!)
