Today was very tiring and interesting - we walked the base of Uluru. We woke up at 8am and left at about 11am. When we got there, we started by looking at all the caves and the painting on the rock. We saw Kanju Gorge which is full of sacred water to aboriginals.
To walk the base of Uluru it is 10.6km. Do you know how many laps of the school running track this is?? Uluru is 348m above ground, and 863m above sea level.
From a distance Uluru looks like sand, but up close it really is rock. We stopped and had lunch just over half way. The whole way there was trees, bush and itchy grass. It was very green. Down the walls of the rock there was black strips, This was where the water had been running. It was black because it was growing algae.
We were all exhausted after our walk (it took about 3.5 hours).
