Goodbye Phnom Penh, Hello Sihanoukville.
After two busy weeks of sightseeing, we decided to the leave the hustle and bustle of the city in search of a beach. We headed to the south of Cambodia to Sihanoukville on a four hour bus journey. This time we were on the back seat of a much smaller bus and whenever we hit a small bump we took off!
We found ourselves at our hostel 'Footprints' on Otres Beach II. We checked into our own beach hut. It's very rustic, a round shack with a thatched roof. No air con this time just a small fan, with a mosquito net covering the bed. Footprints has a real backpacker vibe to it. The staff and fellow guests seem to be very laid back and easy going.
The beach is just a stones throw away from our hut, and what a beach it is. White sand, warm sea that is crystal clear. You can see the different islands in the distance.
Once we had put our trunks and bikini on we headed for a dip in the sea. We watched the sun set on the coastline as Sihanoukville had a power cut. Good fun back out our hut trying to get changed for the evening with no light. Our head torches definitely came In handy - thanks Dan and Matt!
We are now sitting on a candle lit table on the beach with a cold beer, waiting for our prawns and red snapper fish to cook on the BBQ.
Choung Moi!
