Kia ora tatlu katau katoa, visited 1 of the most famous parts of Aotearoa (New Zealand) today, its where in 1840 the treaty was signed with the Maouri and british to keep peach and order between the native people and the settlers, we booked a sound & light show which takes you through the history of New Zealand and how europeans managed to settle here, it started about 8 pm where about 100 peops all gathered around the famous building in Waitangi, there we where informed about the ceremony that was ahead of us, im sure you have all seen the Haka, its what the all blacks rugby team do before the game (a lot of tongue and wide eye action to the challenging team), so the tour guide asked for 3 chiefs (thats when i hide behind ellie lol) so thankfully i didnt get picked, some american, italian and some other dude where drafted in, the guide told them its a honour to stand infront of the tride when the Haka is being presented, so these 3 tourist chiefs walk around the corner with 97 other peops standing well back to find 8 local tribesmen/woman doing the haka, its a quality moment watching that is, these tribesmen holding spears and shouting at these 3 toursits then presenting a hand full of leaves, these guys where shaking away, the atmosphere was buzzing around them, you are meant to keep eye contact, walk straight up to the tribesman and that will show your worthy to challenge them, if you stand back it shows your bricking it in other words lol, the dance is the best iv even seen its so loud and years ago when the 1st settlers come it must have been scary stuff seeing a hugh man holding a spear sounding off to them, but the ceremony is a welcome thing and touching of noses means your accepted onto their land, the show continued after and it basically told you the full story of the native peops and the settlers wars and the treaty, it gives you an insight to New Zealand and its history, it was $50 each and well recommended to visit, i got some photos i will download soon just to show you the locals doing the haka, looking forward to new years eve sesh its gonna be on the beach again lol (lets rock !!!!).
