hiya guys another quick journal this time from the hot springs and geysers at Rotorua, we travelled after our abseils east about 2 hours, i was looking forward to seeing these natural geysers shooting off and the boiling holes etc, so as our guide book recommende we travelled to Wai-o-tapu to see the thermal wonderland and the big geyser in action, it erupts about 10.15 everyday and after arriving along with hundreads more , we gathered around this mini volcano (only way i can describe it) and waited for the clock to hit 10.15, so then some tour guy walks next to it and explains he is about to drop a block of soup into the geyser to aid init eruption, to me that kinda takes the edge of the whole natural thing, but anyway so this guy talks us through the reason and the area we are walking around, then the geyyser goes off and the guide makes for the shelter (he was like a rocket lol ), and so we are all watching it erupt and iit was an impressive spectacle i must agree, we then walked the 3 km around the geothermal area and that was fantastic to see, just massive pools with boiling water bubbling away with all colours, there is loads of pools ad worth the trip to see but on our way back to Rotorua we stopped at another hot springs (Te Puia) and the same springs but this time no humans dropping soap etc, and this erups much higher & more frequent, so i would recommend both sites to visit because Wai-o-tapu has amazing pools and Te Puia has the impressive geyser, the day was classic and a lot of walking involved but worth it, moving on to Taupo tomorrow for more adrenaline then to Aukland to fly to Aus
, see ya.
