I think I would have struggled to take a bad photo today when we visited Bryce Canyon and the Fairyland Trail. The weather was nothing short of perfect and the views were spectacular. A lot of us set out on the Fairyland Trail with the goal of being picked up by the Tortoise bus at Fairyland Point. When a thousand group photos were being taken, I decided to go ahead with Noemie, Justin and Maureen. The scenery was fantastic and the company great. I even had an opportunity to pass on some landscape photography tips that I'd picked up before, though I'm certainly not an expert. It's all about depth!
We arrived just before the bus and waited for the other groups to appear. Most of them did but we had to wait a while for the last group to arrive, even prompting the bus to do a sweep of the visitor centre all over again! They arrived eventually and we got on our way to Mystic Hot Springs to enjoy some natural hot water. There were some bathtubs next to sandstone rocks that had literally grown over the bathtubs to form part of the structure. The water was lukewarm, but the wind was freezing! Luckily the main pool was much warmer. The showers did not have the same quality. Still, a cold shower was better than none at all!
After a good chilli dinner, I just relaxed for a bit and eventually found a small group indoors talking to Mike, the owner. Eventually he put some music on and we had an impromptu dance with instruments and there the tortoise was born! If you see any pictures of me bending over and twisting my hands back towards my chest, that's me doing the tortoise. You heard it here first...
