I'm a good way into this train journey to Niagara Falls and the aircon is freezing. I think it's just a ploy to get me to buy more coffee. Of course the fact that I'm only wearing shorts and T-shirt probably doesn't help either. I have no food this time round, so I also have to enjoy the luxury food of Amtrak this once.

And when I say luxury food, I actually mean a Twix. That's all I managed to get away with until Amtrak dropped me across the border in what is my eleventh country on my big adventure. I arrived at the hostel at 5pm and instantly signed up for an all you can eat barbecue. Take that, Amtrak. I win!

Originally on the cards that night was a pub crawl. Sounds fine, might join in. Then it turned into a keg party with dozens of girls who had just graduated from school as masseuses and general other therapies. So where do we sign? It actually turned out to be half a dozen people in a back yard around a fire, with not even a keg in sight. Disappointed? Is the Pope a former Nazi? You bet. Still, we went to the pub with Adam, a Canadian who was by now getting slightly annoying in our ears all night. We chatted to a few locals and I even managed to leave my card behind the bar AND pick it up at the end of the night. Mike at the Hoop and Grapes would be so proud!

The next day I got a lift down to the Canadian horseshoe falls for a ride to see Niagara Falls with Maid of the Mist. We all had to wear bright blue rain macs, which was a good thing as we got SOAKED! My camera had its second death on this trip so I moped around the area trying to take pictures and failing. After going back to pick up my replacement camera, it all started working again! So I walked to the other side of the whirlpools, got a look at the rapids and took more photos. Another hostel barbecue and I was set. I walked down to the falls at night to catch the 10pm fireworks and see the American falls lit up by powerful lights from the Canadian side. I took some photos but couldn't be sure they were any good as my camera started playing silly b*****s again!
