They seem to have no concept of time in Asia you have at least +/- 2hrs on each journey. We were told our bus ride to Siem Reap would take around 6hrs it took 8! Luckily for me I had plenty of blogging to do, Mel on the other was getting rather irritable towards the end. I thought the roads on Phu Quoc were bad, we were traveling on a dirt track for several miles that was still under construction so we were constently dodging bull dozers and steam rollers. Even when we got onto the solid roads there were huge pot holes everywhere. Drainage of the roads seemed to have been an after thought so they had decided to dig trench's straight across the new road stuck a pipe in then covered it back over with soil and never re-tarmaced it.
When we eventually got to Siem Reap we checked into our room chilled for a bit then went out for a few drinks and a Cambodian BBQ, you got 5 different meats chicken, beef, pork, squid and crocodile! Which actually tastes pretty good, it's got the texture of fish but tastes a little like chicken. The next day we hired a Tuk Tuk for the day which took us around on a tour of three temples the first was Angkor Wat a massive ancient temple full of intricate stone carvings, the work that must have gone into building it was phenomenal. Next was Angkor Thom which was a little more of a ruin, this temple was made up of towers and pillars with huge stone faces carved in them. Lastly was Ta Prohm the most interesting in my opinion, this temple has almost all fallen down and nature has really taken over with trees growing up out of the stone with their massive roots entangled through the ruins. This is the temple that Lara Croft did her tomb raiding. Towards the end of the trip I started to feel a little funny I wasn't sure if it was the sun (as it was sooo hot) or weather it was something I had eaten but when we got back to the room Mel started feeling ill too so we put it down to the malaria tablets. Still feeling rough the next day we just chilled out and tried to feel alright again for the night bus to Sihanoukville as I'm sure we will need to be on top form for that!
