After staying at Dave's for the night we flew with Singapore airlines to Singapore in the morning. We got there around one in the afternoon local time and caught a taxi to our hotel. Dave had kindly put us up in The Concorde Hotel. We checked in in the rather posh lobby and went up to our room to have a quick freshen up, the rooms were very nice with the comfiest bed we had had in a long time and we got two cushions each!! (a novelty in Asia we had realised). After a quick shower each we went back down to the lobby to meet Dave and Fern, we had decided to go to a bird park for the afternoon. The park was like a zoo of birds with all sorts of different areas from penguins to birds of paradise. One area was set up like a rainforest where all the birds lived freely within a massive cage. The enclosure was big enough to fit a 30ft man made waterfall inside it. Another net enclosure was full of parrots which you could feed. That night we went down China Town where we met up with Fern's sister May and two girls who work for Dave; Teep and Jib. We all went for a big chinese meal. After that we went to Clarke Quay where Mel and I had heard of a bar called the Clinic bar which had been designed by Damian Hurst and was in the theme of a clinic with wheelchairs for seats and drinks were served in IV bags or test tubes. Unfortunately it had shut down and been replaced by an Irish bar but we found plenty of other bars to go in. The next day we went to Sentosa island to the Universal Studios theme park on there, we got the cable car across to it, from which you could see for miles. The park had some great rides including two massive roller coasters and a new transformers ride which was a 3D movie and ride combo it was that good we went on twice!! After a full day at the park we hit the hay for a while and then headed to Boat Quay for some food. There was a great selection of sea food with all the crabs, lobsters and fish in tanks outside the restaurants, some of the crabs were huge with claws bigger than my hands!! We finally settled on an amazing Indian where we had some of the best Indian food I've ever had. We had a couple of drinks after that then went back to the hotel. The next morning we said good bye to Dave and Fern as they went back to Bangkok. We went to the Singapore zoo which was great with open style enclosures and walk through cages. After that we went back down to Boat Quay and walked to the viewing point of Marina Bay Sans which is three huge sky scrapers with a cruise ship on top of them!! After a bit of a walk about we went back to the hotel and caught a cab to the airport where we would be flying to Cairns. Singapore is an awesome place, the only downside is the price of everything! Its anything upwards of £12 a pint depending where you drink!! Asia in general has been an amazing place to travel defiantly an eye opener, and frustrating at times but well worth the visit...
