Hello again,

The trip down to Rainbow Beach was so long, we arrived at dark, checked in, had a 10 dollar meal, played some ping pong and went to bed (upgrade, get in!) The next couple of days were spent on the largest sand island in the world, Fraser Island. We were picked up by a coach, which was modified to drive on sand. We then took the ferry across to the island and had dome breaky in our hotel (yes, hotel not hostel, we went up market! although it was that or a tent).

We then drove up a 75 mile beach, its surreal driving along a beach at 100 km/ph. The coach stopped along at a few places which had some great views.

We walked 4km over sand dunes which then dropped down to a lake and then it was back through the rainforest. The driver was a bit loopy (a pattern is emerging) and the pictures we took don't do the island justice, it's amazing. We had a buffet lunch, dinner and breakfast which made a nice change from bread, peanut butter, dry cereal, crackers, and cookies. After filling our faces (not forgetting to take advantage of the free butter, milk pots, spreads, coffee, tea and sugar) we headed off in the morning to Lake Mackenzie which the island is famous for with a stop at Central Station and the rainforest on the way. Lake Mackenzie looked great, although the sun wasn't on our side though so not the best time to see it but it was still pretty cool. After lunch by the lake we headed back along the beach to get the ferry back across to Rainbow Beach. We ended up playing Cluedo and table tennis with a girl we've met along our way, called Lucy until the late hour of 9o'clock.
