Gday Mate
We had the best time in Cairns. Its such a fun place (town for backpackers!) we arrived there at 8am and jumped on a local bus to our hostel, Dreamtime. It was a nice place, we we're about a 10 minute walk from central cairns and the esplanade. We had meals in town everynight because of how ridicously cheap all the main bars were doing meal deals. Although we've had enough chips. That day we booked a trip to the Great Barrier Reef at a travel agent which we ended up visiting everyday! So we went back after our meal and matt set his alarm for 6am because we had to be at the pier at 7.30. So, come 7.35 we were booking a cab, chucking clothes around, packing a bag frantically and running from the cab to the pier. Someone didnt adjust their time zones, we wont name names though, MATT . So, after relaxing now that we were in the queue for our trip we went to get the wallet out to pay for the fuel levy, but no, someone had left the wallet in the cab, no names! Oh well, so matt the saviour ran out and organised it to be returned by the cab, which we were charged 10 dollars for. Once we were on the boat everything was fine, or maybe not as rach was feeling sea sick (wasn't sick though!) The day trip was really good , did some snorkelling, had a bbq, did some more snorkelling (amazing fish adn coral) then went back to pay for another day trip and sneak in another meal deal.
The second day, another early start after a very heavy night, rach a little ropey. We left at 7.30 for our Cape Tribulation day trip which was a really good. Learnt loads about the rainforest, took a ferry cruise along the Daintree river to see the crocs, walked through the rainforest, stopped at the beach at Cape Tribuation for lunch and visited Mossman Gorge. So tired after a long day trip, an early night for us!
A lazy day on day 3 spent by the lagoon having lunch and back in the travel agents to book for trips for when we are further down the east coast. Had dinner at an Irish bar and went home to back our bags, to begin our journey on the Oz Experience bus in the morning.
Thanks for all the messages, we read them at every chance we get,
Matt and Rach x
