Up early to say goodbye to Pat and Alan and then we hit the road to Adelaide. We made a few stops on the way to check out the Black Stump at Paringa, and the big orange just outside Berri. We plan to experience as many 'big things' on this trip as we can and will no doubt bombard this blog page with pictures of the big things we have seen.
We arrived in Adelaide mid afternoon, set up camp and had a chat and a drink with Chris and Bronwen before Bron had to go to work and the boys settled in for the evening with a bottle of Bundy Rum!Had a nice steak dinner prepared by the boys in Chris and Bron's caravan before heading to bed at about 11pm.
NOTE:The black stump in Paringa is not a real 'black stump'.It is a really big root system from a river red gum that someone found upstream and brought down the river to display. The information displayed at the Paringa Black Stump states that there are 14 Black Stumps in Australia so I am going to research them all to find out what they are and where they are.I want to know if the only real black stump is in Blackall.

Not the best sleep last night as the caravan park is next to a very busy road with lots of trucks. It is quite noisy.
We did a quick driving tour of Adelaide to show Mel the sights. We drove to Port Adelaide and then down the coast to Glenelg beach where we sat in the sun and had brunch. Then we drove into Dulwich to see where Matt's grandparents used to live, through the city and north Adelaide and then popped in to see Matt's Uncle John at work and then his cousin Mark. Then it was back to the caravan park for a rest and to get ready for dinner at Joy and Nog's (Matt's family friends). That night we once again got spoilt with a big roast dinner, wine and lots of conversation. We didn't get to bed until around midnight.
