Helloo everyone!
Sorry there hasn't been a blog for a week - but it's a hard life this whole travelling around Australia thing - means no phone signal and rarely a place that does internet for less than $10 an hour - not that we are complaining we are still having an awesome time.
So here goes....
Day 51:
Now we were still in Geraldton so we spent the morning tidying the van and trying to fit in all the fishing rods and cool stuff Nick had leant us. Once everything was ready we had lunch with Nick and then he let us burn some CD's as the radio recpetion is pretty shocking up north as we have now found out. Unless you want to listen to Tourist radio - which is pretty dam funny but is only available in the towns - which are usually a couple of 100k apart. The Cd's have been so overplayed by now and are getting quite scratched but were so worth doing - plus dad you would be proud me and Matt have been singing along to Meatloaf, the eagles and Bon jovi for far too many hours.lol
So we set off from Gearldton after diong a bit of food shopping and getting some petrol. We were heading to Kalbarri. First stop on the way there was Pot Alley for some very impressive scenery we then headed into Kalbarri and found a free BBQ by the beach to cook some sausages on. The we set up camp in the Murchison river campsite. We had a pretty funny evening as we ended up meeting a kiwi couple and a couple from Kent who we sat drinking with for quite a few hours - we even got told to carry on our drinking outside the campsite at about 9:30pm as we were quite loud! Was a good evening though.
Day 52:
We got up early today to go and watch the Pelican feeding by the beach - the Pelicans were massive and they got people from the audience to hold fish out while they snatched them out of there hands. I didn't fancy doing that as im not the biggest fan of birds. So me and Matt just sat and watched but it was really cool.
Next stop was the National park - depsite our camper only being 2wd and not allowed to go on unsealed roads - we managed to make it the 30k down some pretty dodgy roads to Natures Window. This was awesome - we have some funny pics aswell of us hanging from rocks - mine isn't that great as my hair was gong crazy in the wind but Matts looks good!
After this we went to check out more lookout points like the 'z bend', 'hawkshead'and the 'Ross Graham lookout' allo of these were spectacular. The scenery here is just so amazing - even just watching it change when you are driving along is incredible. After a good day of being one with nature we got back on the highway and headed to Denham.
On the way we stopped off at Hameling Pool to see the stratolamites which are like rocks but are really living organisms which were what started earth millions and millions of years ago. I don't know if that is exctly what they are but it is something along those lines - if your interested look it up or read Billy Brysons book on Australia as he went to see them. They were quite cool but really just looked like rocks - the sun was setting though which made it pretty as one side of the sky was orange and the other was purple which was quite strange. After this we set off to Goulet Bluff (a campsite recommended by Nick & Helen) to camp for the night.
That is it for this blog guys - sorry it is short and sweet but we are stealing the free internet from the dive shop in Exmouth. We will try and update again soon.
Just to let you all know - we are supposed to be going snorkelling with the whale sharks tomorrow ( fingers crossed as it got cancelled on us in Coral bay - you will have to read the next blog to find out why.)
Also sorry to the family if we have been a bit quiet recently it is stuipidly hard to get phone signal anywhere.
Lots of Love
Carly and Matt x x x
