Woohoo, were back with another installation! It's been a while but let's face it, no-one wants to hear what we have been up to at work on a day to day basis.
Let us fill you all in on our Christmas day in Melbourne.
December 25:
We woke up nice & early & the sun was scorching. We took our santa hats & picnic & set off for Frankston Beach. The closer we got, the worse the weather become. Luckily no rain, so we chilled on the beach & had a bite to eat.
Carly had been talking about my surprise Xmas present for a while & she decided that now was the time to let me have it. I held my hands out expecting a PSP but received nothing more than an envelope! I opened it & read the word 'Engagement'. I was a little bit slow to catch on but when I opened it, all became clear. It read 'Matt, Will You Marry Me?'. I was a bit lost for words but when Carly said that she required an answer I obviously said yes. She handed me a box with a ring that turned out to be about 4 sizes too big. Damn my slim fingers!
Within minutes of the proposal the sun came out & Carly cursed her luck. It was gorgeous all day after that, hence the redness in our faces in all our pics! We only stayed at the beach for an hour or so then went home to sink some beers & prepare the BBQ for Xmas dinner.
Carly's cousin Bethan & a few of her friends came round later on in the evening & we drank & ate plenty. All in all, it was an awesome day, one that we will never forget.
December 26:
This morning we woke up & had a few things to get sorted before heading off to the Boxing Day Test Match between Australia & South Africa at the G (that's what the locals call the MCG).
We caught the train to the stadium & had all our cans of coke confiscated on arrival which sucked & we couldn't get any seats on the lower tier cos it was so busy. We went up to the top tier & within minutes Australia's first wicket fell.
The crowd was huge & stupidly noisy right from the start, which made the atmosphere really good. After lunch we went to get some drinks & ran into Bethan & the guys so we all sat together. Ricky Ponting hit a century which set the crowd off (check our videos) which was definitely the highlight. We left when they stopped for tea & caught the train home after wishing the others a Happy New Year & safe travels.
Arlene's friend Kerry popped round & we had pizzas & beers. Was good to catch up with everyone before heading to NZ on Tuesday.
On the Monday night, Ryan from my work popped round with his girlfriend Steph to wish us farewell & we had another night of pizza & beers!!
Australia has been an unbelievable place, we've loved every minute of it & we both have high hopes of spending all our minutes here if we can.
A special thanks to Arlene & Jay for putting us up for so long & making sure we had everything we needed. Not many people would give up their own space for so long & trust others with their belongings. We really appreciate what you've done for us, definitely gonna catch up soon!
The next edition of the Matt & Berg blog will be from New Zealand. Hope everyone had an awesome Xmas & everyone was pleased with what they received. I know I was!!
