As promised, a 5.45am wake up call/alarm for a 6am breakfast. Sam, one of the staff, brought us HEAPS of banana pancakes made by Linda, the American lady who owns the place. They were delicious!!!! Nasir came at 6.15 and we packed up and left by 6.25.
We drove for 15 minutes to get to the ferry, which would take us across the lake, and then we had an hour and a half drive to Kisumu, where we paid Nasir/the company he worked for and then drove to the airport.
We waited for about 45 minutes at the airport, which had next to nothing in!! Then flew the half hour flight to Nairobi Airport. We were early arriving, so we had to wait 3 hours instead of the 2 we were expecting, for our next flight which would take us to Mulindi airport. There was only a cafe and toilets in the domestic departures lounge, so cards and a very slow bit of wifi kept us entertained!!
Our flight finally came, and thankfully/surprisingly it only took just over a half hour, more than half the time we were expecting!!
We arrived at the airport, and someone was waiting for us to drive us to Turtle Bay Beach Resort - a 2 and 1/2 hour drive!! It was very long, and we worked out we spent about 13 hours travelling!! Crazy!!
We finallyyyyyy got to the resort and were amazed and thankful!! We were greeted by 3 porters, a cold towel each, and a glass of orange juice/squash. We were taken to our rooms - josh and theo in one, parents in one, and me in a room all to myself!! The rooms are literally on the beach - our verandas out the back step on to the beach!!
We were all very hungry so we went for a buffet supper, then went straight to bed!!
