So today we had another stupidly early start at 6.30am - even Kristina couldn't get up!! It was all in favour of getting away by 9, which we manage to do!! After breakfast and more packing up of course!!
So the journey took around 6 hours in total, with 2 of those hours on smooth tarmac. The rest on bumpy roads!! We stopped for lunch in the middle of a plain, covered in wildebeest!! Amazing sight/site!! We finally got to the camp at around 3pm or just before. We decided on the tents and who's sleeping where - there's 2 doubles each in the 4 tents we have, so parents had a tent each, boys shared a tent, and me and Kristina have a double bed each yay!!
After some tea and coffee/walnut cake, we decided to go for a late afternoon safari inside the Mara. We spent about an hour and a half in the Mara, as the gates shut at 6.30pm. We saw millions as millions of wildebeest!!!! Quite a lot of zebra as well, amazing to see them close up!! There was also giraffe, a few elephant, buffalo (of course!!), a lot of deer type things (I can never remember the names of them all), warthog, and hyena. Apparently there's loads of lion and 4 rhinos!! There are white rhinos (the rare ones), but they're in the rhino sanctuary and it cost loads to go in there...
We got back to camp at about 7ish, so we chilled for a bit, and had showers (me and krissie shared one to save water), then had chicken tikka masala (the non-spicy version ha) then homemade icecream (looked and tasted a bit more like yoghurt). I was so so tired afterwards so I went straight to bed and straight to sleep!!
