It's been quite a ride with not a lot of time to get on a computer in between. This morning we begin our journey without a babysitter. We are renting a car and heading to the Cape of Good Hope today.... just Dave, Lynn, Shane and I. Free at last.
That's not really fair. We did enjoy our tour very much. These last few days have taken us through some of the most beautiful country I've ever seen. From the pounding surf of the wild coast we have travelled inland through ostrich areas, fruit growing valleys, wine country and wild beautiful mountain ranges. With this we have had the opportunity to visit cheetah enclosure where injured animals are nursed back to health and realeased back in the wild where possible. We actually were able to pet a cheetah. What a rush that was!
There is so much to say about the last few days. I will probably expand on that when I get home. I think the pictures will say more than I can about what we have witnessed. Can't download them until I get home.
CapeTown is not like any other place we have ever seen in Africa. Very much like Vancouver BC but on a grander more tropical style.... and all that with a couple of mountains stuck right in the middle of it. Yesterday we went up to the top of Table Mountain. What a view from there. A former island pushed up to mountain status by the crunching of the continents years ago. Beautiful to walk along with the wild flowers and rocks eroded by the force of nature as water crashed upon the 'shores' years ago. After our walk on the Table we took a ride down to the market area where I managed to buy nothing but enjoy lots. Then along their beautiful waterfront with buskers, food, sun & music. Walked home along the oceanfront and slept like a log.
Today the Cape tomorrow....??? We'll see.
