Well today was very exciting for us, the lead up has felt like it had been going on for ages. That's right we're off to Tassie today!!
We spent the day with Naomi, Noah and Meisje which was fabulous. It was great for all the girls to have a proper play and great for Naomi and l to have a non rushed catch up.. The day seemed to fly and as the arvo came around Marty and l started to get a buzz happening with the anticipated voyage over the Bass Strait on the Spirit of Tasmania. For as long as l can remember, Marty and l have always wanted to visit Tassie but we have never had the means to do it, whether financial or time wise!
We headed off and said our goodbyes to the William's around 4:30pm, was a bit sad as don't know when we will see them again...... We stopped for some macca's for tea then headed to Beach Rd, Port Melbourne to check in. When we arrived the girls were so excited when we saw the ship, it was hard to tell them to quiet down when we were so excited also. We checked in around 7pm and got on the boat around 7:45pm, the girls thought the drive up to park in the ship was awesome. We made our way up to the cabin area and then took a look around the ship as it was going to be another hour or do before we started our voyage. I was so amazed that the ship felt like a cruise ship in a way inside with a pokie area, dining facilities and even a movie theatre! We settled down in the bar area and had a quick drink, then went out on the decks to watch us anchor off. Meg whined about being cold, but apart from that it was magical to sail off into the distance whilst watching the Melbourne lights fade off in the horizon. We were all pretty beat so we went back to the cabin and settled in for the night, it took a little while for the girls to calm down for sleep as it was all too exciting to be sleeping on a ship, especially when they could see out of the porthole! Eventually they tired, as did we, and they fell asleep. Marty and l were beat and thought we would sleep easily, especially seeing the ship only had a gentle sway.....although we had heard that the trip can be very rocky, we would just have to see...........
