We're back on Australian soil and we already miss Bali! We landed on time at around 3am, and l had the worst flight. My back was still sore from the last massage and the fact that l haven't been able to lie flat for 10 hours! The girls both slept on the plane, so cute with their eye masks on. Marty also slept for an hour or so, snoring on occasion. I, on the other hand, couldn't get comfy without back pain overcoming me. I had to keep standing and changing positions all the time. I even tried to distract myself by trying to crack angry birds but couldn't even pass one level. Lol...
The time through customs went smooth, although Marty got a little stressed again. Funny how l can see it clearly now, his reaction to nerves and stress. Boo was brilliant and such a trooper. I woke her and she wasn't sooky at all, just did as she was asked even though she was dead tired. Meg on the other hand didn't go well and Marty had to carry her all through the airport. We got through customs quickly and got a taxi out to pick our van and car up, only costing us $15. Glad we arrived at might, little steamy but not too hot. By the time we got to the car and moved off it was 4am and the girls were knackered. They fell asleep quickly and l would have too of my back didn't hurt so much. I swear it was the longest 300kms I've ever done! I was nearly in tears, we had to stop a few times just so l could stand up and move around. One good thing was watching the beautiful sunrise, have missed this when we were in Bali. The last hour l think Marty struggled to keep his eyes open, but by 7:30am we had arrived at Edith Falls. I got out and went and laid on a bench straight away while Marty set up. I just couldn't move, this is the worst my back had been in ages. Really pissed! Also when we got out of the car the heat hit us immediately! I think at 7:30am it was 35oC already with a top of 40oC expected! It was gonna be a long day...
Throughout the morning Marty and l took turns having small power naps on the bed while the girls watched movies. We flyer bad for the girls and in hind sight we should have probably stayed in a motel when we got into Darwin. With my back, the heat and pure exhaustion, our arrival back in Oz wasn't too much fun. After a late brunch of sanga's, we headed down to actually pay for our sight, $20 per night. We headed down to the falls and had a swim, the water doing my back fantastic. The bloody stripy fish kept biting out legs and feet, which took us by surprise at first. The water was a bit cold but refreshing with the heat. I was so disappointed that l couldn't swim over to the falls. I was still trying to keep my tattoo dry and also Nuba l was knackered. After a swim we went back to the van and had another small power nap while the girls watched another movie. Again, felt bad for the girls but l think they didn't care, the were tired too. We took another swim in the arvo then had two minute noodles for tea. Boo even went over to some travelers and cracked her whip with them. They had some ball on a rope and he tried to teach Boo some tricks with hers. She is so confident with meeting new people now, south better than some adults l know. After sunset, we were all tucked up in bed and I think we were all asleep by 9pm!
The next morning we woke and decided it was time to push off. It was bloody hot again and not much breeze and my back was still giving grief. So we packed up and has one last dip in Edith Falls where we met another traveling family. Ended up chatting for an hour while being refreshed in the water. By the time we were in the road, it was 11:30am, but it wasn't long up the road to Katherine....
