Who would have guessed how today's events would have unfolded. Total spontaneity!
The girls said they wanted to go to kids club for the day, and who are we to deprive our kids of what they want (haha). Marty and l had planned to hire a scooter for the day and take a drive around Bali by ourselves but unfortunately you had to have a motorbike license. Total b*****, but probably for the best seeing this place is totally crazy with the amount of traffic in the roads. Plus we would probably get lost or something knowing our luck. So with that we took another long two hour return walk up the bypass road to the factory outlets to exchange some clothes that didn't fit Meg. Funny though, once there l noticed on the receipt, in fine print, that no exchanges or refunds were permitted. Oh well, picked up a couple more bargains to try fit in our bags! All l can tell you is that today was so hot and humid, l couldnt get enough water into me. The walk back to HRH nearly killed me, sweat was pouring off me. I don't know if it was the heat or the fact we were I. This amazing holiday, but Marty and l ended up at Mr Dolphins tattoo shop! Yes, that's right, l warned you at the start of this blog that this day was spontaneous. We were there to get quotes for Marty, but when he picked his design, which included my name to be tattooed on him, l decided that l too should get one. Marty chose to have two done, one being a band with names integrated into the design (his previous three girls, Boo, Meg and Bell)! On the other arm he was getting the outline of the Southern Cross stars. I decided on the Chinese 'true love' symbol with 'Marty' inscribed on the side to be put on the inside of my wrist. Before we knew it Marty was in the chair with the carbon ink outline done. Wayan, the tattoo bloke, snapped open the needles abf before you knew it there was no turning back. Marty's face squinted as the needles started to penetrate his skin. After an hour and a half they were done. They looked so good, and Marty was so happy with them. Next it was my turn! OMG it stung like a mother!!! On certain parts of my wrist l felt my fingers curling from the nerve stimulation. But like the tough princess l am, l got thru it and was so chuffed. It only took half an hour, so not as long as Marty, but still, was in a very sensitive area. In total it costs us $4,000,000 rupiah ($400 AUS) for the whole three tatts abf we even got a free singlet each! With our tattoos covered in cling wrap, we walked out of the shop, l think still half in shock with what we'd done. So glad we did this together. We had both wanted a tattoo forever and l know it sounds corny, but it was great to do it with my best mate and it brought us closer l think.
Still being stunned, we headed out and made our way to a diner and fed on nachos with a cold beer and vodka. We laughed and joked and shared our pain of getting our tattoos, a really great experience and another first tick on our bucket list!
We picked up the girls from kids club to find they had had their own art work done, both faces were painted. They were outside playing life size chess with the day care workers, we could really tell that they loves being around the kids. Meg was the first to notice our new artwork. Both the girls were in shock and amazed at the same time!
Again, we had a little r and r in the room before heading out to he Sandbar again, l know, we totally have addictive personalities! But this joint is fantastic. I must say l am going to look like a nasi gorang soon, and my clothes are getting that little bit tighter. Doesn't help that once again we finished the night with Flapjack pancakes. This time l went all out abf has chocolate pancakes with vanilla gelato, chocolate sauce and sprinkled with honeycomb! So gonna pay for this when l get back to Australia!! Jenny Craig here we come...lol!
