Today is one of the biggest days in Australia, "AFL Grand Final" and Marty and l are keen to see how Kuta puts on a show for us to embrace such an ionic day. After breaky we went to the pool for a quick dip and relax with the girls so that we as parents dont feel too bad when we put them in kids club for the day so we can go watch some footy. After a while the girls actually started nagging us when were we going to take them, so without too much of a thought, we went and got changed and then took them to kids club. Just in time for lunch, so awesome. Marty and l, straight away felt free and lighter. We walked up the street to a pub called "The Stadium" which we'd heard alot of people talking about it being the place to be to watch the grand final. We arrived to a packed out place with no seating available. So what to do? Thats right, we made our way to the bar to find a spot to get a few cool ones in before nabbing a few seats that were empty. As soon as the national anthem started, everyone was upstanding and loudly and proudly singing. Once it finished there was an electrically loud cheer and everyone was excited to get the show on the road. There was a mixture of Hawthorn and Sydney fans there, those more committed were dressed in footy jumpers and had the best seats in the house. Marty and l were just happy to be around such an exciting atmosphere, and without kids to look after for once. Marty and l cooled off with a few beverages and had the best nacho's for lunch. By half time we decided to head back to HRH and see what sort of a show the Centrestage bar put on. We arrived to about 10 people being there and it was so quiet that you could here the crickets chirping. So disappointing, that is till we got up to the bar and started to have a yarn to a couple, Narelle and Damian. They too are on holidays with kids, from Perth. We ended up making our own atmosphere after a few more beverages were consumed. Sydney ended up winning by 10 points and it was such a well contested game, thoroughly enjoyed, especially with the company we had. After the game finished, we went and picked up the girls, trying to hide how tipsy we both were. lol. We got changed in our bathers and headed down to the pool to meet up with Narelle and Damian for happy hour. Mojitos were consumed quickly, way too quickly for me. I was having an awesome time, Marty too was having a few laughs. So great to see him lighten up and relax. Boo and Meg got involved in the pool games, having a go at the watermelon eating contest, jumping sack race and the tug of war. They even struck some moves in the dance contest. So great to sit at the bar having a drink and watch your kids having a blast too.
After happy hour finished and the pool games were completed, we made our way to our room and got ready to go out for dinner. We had clicked really well with Narelle and Damian and had arranged to meet at the foyer and head out for dinner together. We strolled down the street and headed to what was beginning to be the Beesons local dining spot, "The Sandbar". We got a set out back by the pool and had a really great time, especially hanging s*** on Damian for being grumpy just cause he was a little tired!! The kids all got along well and as usual looked like they have known each other for longer than a few hours. For dinner l had the mie gorang which was delicious, so loving this indonesian food. After we scoffed down our meal, Narelle and Damian and their kids, Jack and Sienna, went back to HRH to get an early night. We, on the other hand, went down to Flapjacks to have some gelato whilst Marty inhaled his buttermilk pancakes for another time, lol...
What a big day, and again, totally unexpected that we have meet some really nice people who we will hopefully spend some time with over here. Exhausted after a big day we headed to bed and flacked it quickly. Tomorrow is going to be a jam packed day as were off on one of our tours with Carlos to Ubud, Monkey Sanctuary and to see Gua Gaga temple...........
