Today we packed a bag and headed off to Watford. That would put us near to Kenton and Kingsbury where Dad lived as a boy of 5 to 10 years. We got on to the M11 and then the M25 and with a few hiccups made it in to Watford. Booked in to the Holiday Inn and sailed forth to tackle the TomTom again!! Last night we stayed in the Holiday Inn at Colchester. Some interesting observations were : a gadget where the frig would usually be that had us perplexed for a while. , however being the intelligent one I reckoned it was a trouser press! Of course I was right! Instead of heavy block out curtains they had decorative sliding wooden panels that you pulled across. Perfect for me who does not like light in the room to sleep, and with twilight,the perfect solution. ...

Off to Bury St Edmonds today. I needed to get a sim card for the iPad and see an Optometrist to get ingrowing eyelashes removed. They pop up every so often and really cause great discomfort. Got that sorted and also the sim card. On the way there we stopped at Wixoe, Baythorne End, Glemsford. These were places Dad wanted to see as remembered from his childhood. Up at 4am today and off to Haverhill to meet David for our balloon flight. We picked up Glenn on route as he was the retriever for the day. David has a Ford 7 seated with a trailer that has the balloon equipment in it. They had a place picked out for take off, a large area with the grass cut for that event. Went to Sudbury yesterday (sat) and had a walk up the High Street. Quaint little shops all sandwiched together on either side of the street. There was a market at one end and we checked out the fruit and veg. Nectarines were the size of oranges. Beautiful apricots, pears,grapes and strawberries. The bananas come in from Costa Rica and Jamaica. All sorts of vegetables, with stall holders extolling their freshness. Buckets of cut flowers, a fishmonger and cheese ...
