Guess where we went today.... We went to London to see the Queen!
We moved to a better hotel this morning at a place called Kenton. Dad's old stamping grounds when he was child. We were not too fussed on the shower and bed in the TudorLodge.
Now in a Premier Inn. Nice high comfy bed and new pillows!
Caught the train and then walked down Pall Mall, it is gorgeous with the beautiful trees overshadowing it. Seeing it was quite warm today the coolness was appreciated. Everyone was heading the same way. Then suddenly the palace was there in front of us, just as we have seen it on TV.
Took photos from all angles and then went to see if we could get tickets to look through the Palace. Mmmmm £32 each and a queue a mile long, we decided the external views would have to do. Was quite thrilled though to have seen it in person.
We strolled back through St James . Park and that was lovely with all the waterfowl, and then I saw 2 squirrels fossiking in the grass. They are cute to watch.
We had some lunch at about 2pm and then hopped on a tube train and went to have a look at Harrods.
That was quite an experience. Again crowds of people. We wandered through gazing at all the opulence.
A browse through the meat, fish, fruit and produce was a feast for the eyes; especially the truffles and chocolates and cakes.
I took photos to make you all drool!
By this time it was about 5pm so we decided to head for the hotel and have an early night and plan tomorrow.
We will have to head back to Bill and Audrey's soon to wash some clothes and prepare for the trip home next Saturday.
Already the month is nearly gone, we have had a great time and enjoyed the diversity of our sightseeing. I think we prefer the countryside to the bustle of London though. Next time we will do a bit more sightseeing through some of the other areas.
