G'day Mates - yes indeed, I am still alive!
Apologies for the (slight) delay, I can't believe it has been over 6 months since my last blog! You know what they say 'Time flies when you are having fun!' Indeed having heaps of fun here as it is never boring in the Gold Coast. Although it is autumn here, we can still go suntanning and walk around in Tshirts. It is getting slightly colder at night now. Too funny as we consider 'colder' around 16 degrees - which is normally the temperature in the Netherlands that we start taking our jackets off, haha.
Not only 'parties and fun' on this side of the world, although it might seem like that if you look at my Facebook. Let's admit it, who wants to see the same picture of a 'boring office' every time on Facebook? Who really wants to hear/see when you are going through a s***ty time? So we use Facebook to share happy and fun messages! No worries, all good here. Still hard working and having a great time with the lovely people I met here. Although I definitely miss you guys at home, I am also very lucky with the people I have here - see pictures.
"A picture says more than 1000 words" It indeed does and I am very happy I took so many as we are going back in time no less than 6 months. See below the explanations to the pictures of my last album.
Ripley's Believe It Or Not
Yoland, my lovely friend and the power woman that convinced the Australian Government to grant me my Sponsored Visa, went with me to one of the most popular attractions of the Gold Coast. Inside you can see the craziest things, personally seen by great explorer Robert Ripley. You can see real human heads shrunk by a tribe somewhere in an exotic jungle, take a picture with the world's tallest man or hug the world's fattest man. Very interesting and probably even more hilarious when you would put a Ripley's next to the coffee shops in Amsterdam - awesome for the 'special effects' haha. 7D Cinema
Most of my time here Down Under I am dedicating to 7D Cinema. Luckily some of the hard work has been paying off: we were published in multiple Newspapers and Magazines and we even made it to the news 3 times. That was funny as many people I know here, for example at the gym, said 'Hey, I saw you on the News!'Never thought 7D Cinema would be turning me into a 'local celebrity' ;) Have a look at the video: www.youtube.com/7dcinemas One of my main projects was the council application for the new Cavill shop. I was invited to meet with Council as we sent an official complaint letter about the lack of support in order to compile such an application without an $6000 costing Planning Consultant! We won and it has been approved! The Markets have been going well for us, we organized the Grand Opening of our Cavill shop and our next challenge…7D Cinema Mooloolaba - Opening next month!
Concert Beyoncé in Brisbane - unforgetable!
Best concert ever! It gets better: best sight/spots ever!! I can't thank dear Sandra and Maarten enough!! They arranged for Victoria and me to get these great spots to be present at Beyonce's concert in Brisbane. We were in the area of Be's special guests and we even got to High-Five her! It was such an amazing show and we had an awesome night - wow she can sing and perform! Thanks thanks thanks San & Maarten!!!
Living with Paul
For Schoolies I had to move out of my apartment again and Paul offered me to stay with him for a while. We had such a good time that I ended up staying there for over 2 months! He kind of adopted me and now he is my Australian Dad J Lots of fun, motivating each other to go to the Gym, chill nights watching Modern Family and Healthy shakes/food. Have a look at his beautiful apartment, I even had the luxury of a private Jacuzzi.
Christmas at the Gulamali's
One of the most difficult times to be away from home. The Gulamali family invited all of us and we had a great time with lots of laughter and amazing food!
Sydney Celebrations
Most of my dear mates unfortunately have an expiring visa. As a 'memory to never forget' we booked a house together for a week in Sydney to celebrate NYE. Guy and me celebrated our Bday's too - we had such a great week!
