Decided I had better put an entry to the photos that I posted. We decided to camp on site here as it is free with the admission, and we are very glad we got to see this place. We have taken a tour through the Gardens with a guide, and heard all about Jose's dream ,starting in about 1925 with the land,16 acres.
His dream was to build a place for people to come to swim, play tennis, there was a ballroom and theatre with an ice cream parlour. Unbelievable, and powererd by his hydro electric generator....... A man of vision... It is actually powererd by the same generator today. It has seen devastating times... Fire (taking out the Ballroom and Theatre....... A few serious Floods..... And a couple of cyclones. It is really incredible that it hasn't just been claimed by vegetation. A great spot to to stay a night, we are going to do the night tour which should be interesting.
