Last night in Vanuatu and we fancied letting our hair down. We went to the favourite haunts that happen to be the cheapest. First of all Waterside bar to watch the sunset and make use of the happy hour. We bought all the nights drinks during the happy hour and then placed them in the fridge until we got round to them.
A kiwi accountant came over, and soon the conversation came around to the islands favourite conversation subject - talking about how mad the locals are. The first story was about a village on Tanna that believed Prince Phillip was going to come out and live with them (each hut proudly displayed a picture of him). The second one was an amusing story of how a group of convicts used an hacksaw (just lying around) to cut through their bars and escape. How they were found sleeping on the beach and the offer of doing voluntary work instead of going back to jail.
Escaping him and a band killing Pink Floyd we went onto the hummus place for something to eat. Here we bumped into a kiwi that we first met here at the start of the trip and somehow managed to bump into on every island since. He was on some work project teaching the locals how to grow Sandalwood. He filled us in on how the locals on Ambrym got the satellite TV going. It turned out that the locals used his generator but had to give it back when he left. The locals in desparation at being without football hooked up a large church generator directly that then burned out some critical components TIV!
