We set from Nairobi with the sterio loud, the music blared down on Nairobi as there are no sides in the truck. People in the shade under trees, selling goods by the side of the road or using their bicycles for transporting their goods looked round. Beers were produced and we were on our way.
Soon we were off the tarmac roads leaving Nairobi behind. I headed for the beach (an area at the top of the truck that had cushions for chilling out on). From here you had a good 360 degree view of the world. Others joined me in chating and waving at all the locals waving at us. Colours were amazing, not just the very lush landscape but the people (all in traditional clothing).
The first night we spent camping at a very strange snake park run by someone called Ma. The bar was complete with T shirts from all round the world (I liked it a lot). Here I was introduced to the cheaper local tipple Konyagi that has now become my preferred spirit.
People coming back from the snake park said it was very creepy and indead it was. Ma seemed to have very strange tastes, I went past what seemed to be empty cages wondering what must have been in there. Two birds appeared at the wire trying to get to me. They were evil the heavy breathing scared the poo out of me.
