Just 333 km to Kings Canyon and a 7.6 km walk around the rim. The journey there was a delight, the scenery looked like someone had planted a massive scrubbery (it is so much nicer than the bland scenery up north). Some wild horses that we had to brake for added to the mystic of the surroundings.
A stop over confirmed that the French and the flies know about Kings Canyon. Sure enough both were out in force as we started the walk around the rim. The French seem to be prevalent here as opposed to Darwin.
I forgot to take an iPhone picture but Kings Canyon is basically a ultra craggy sandstone area where the focus is the biggest cleft. By world standards it is not big but it is pretty. Liz was setting a fast pace due to the flies that concentrate their attack when you stop and to keep ahead of some French people that were being eco vandals.
Back at the campsite we decided to check out the campsites free Rodies Country and Western band (see blog picture). As expected it is so bad it is good. We chose the next room as a suitable safe distance to observe them whilst using some beer as a sedative.
We have not been out of the tent in the evenings since Alice, the main reason being the rip off costs they can charge for a captive audience. The other reason is that we have been busy driving and walking: 900km/30km respectively in the last three days.
