We arrived in Lijiang on Friday (15th) after our flights being changed about 5 times, but we got here.
Lijiang is in Yunnan province it is an UNESCO town and is basically lots of cobbled streets, wooden buildings and canals and streams. It is very picturesque and nice for a wander around although it is very easy to get lost; which we did a couple times on our first day!
We havent really done much here as the last two days it has been raining mostly but Mark got to watch the Pacific so he was happy. Also there is not too much to do here apart from wander the streets that being said it is a very nice way to spend the day when it is dry. There are lots of friendly locals who are happy to give us a smile. The owner of our inn invited us to drink some strong chinese wine and some tea on our first night as it was her birthday.
We have also had lots of people speaking to us, we had a class of school students wanting to speak to us to practice there English (which was better than our chinese) who also wanted Mark to play basketball with them at their school, we also were asked to video record a birthday message to a chinese girl in the street!
Hopefully we should be heading further into the mountains tomorrow after a stress getting our Tibet permits sent to us.
