Mark & Den's Travels
18th- 21st May Cape Tribulation
Straight after Liveaboard we head north to Cook Town. We stop one night in Port Douglas and then onto Cape Tribulation That's as far as we go!! NO 4WD then no go. The seal Roads turn into sand and mud with big creek crossing so we stopped, did some walking in the Rainforest around the Cape Trib Daintree World heritage forest. unique because the forest reaches the sea. and the enviromental guys will have you believe it is related to the Barrier Reef. over 3million years old has evolved and survivied all climate changes possibly thrown at it. Surprised yeah so was I!! Daintree Forest also supports the largest Estuarine Crocs in the world. So we have to go see them right. We find a sanctuary with some of the oldest and youngest (see photos) they are encouraging their breeding programme and releasing them back into the river. There are signs all over the banks DONOT stand near waters edge. DONOT SWIM. Isn't it amazing how many people have to try and push their luck I DIDNT!! I DIDNT even swim in the sea because these guys nicknames are SALTIES makes you wonder eh!! OK enough of crocs Mark's got his fix we are back off to Cairns to prepare for the next leg of our Travels
Next Stop ULURU (Ayres Rocks)
