Well this has got to be my first WOW factor of Malaysia. Although the earlier part of the journey was FUN.. This opens your heart again, fresh air is good!!!
As we start our thee hour journey up the River Tembling on a rather rickety bannana boat loaded with 5 bodies and rucksack, we sat very low into the water..As we pass by local tribes fishing in the river , monkies playng near the waters edge and a family of otters splashing around I just new this was going to be good.
The boat keeps diverting around protuding river bed because the water is so low we traverse from side to side sometimes the bottom grinds on the rocks underneath us making us wonder if we will make it at all... But we did!!!
We arrive at the floating platform just three hours after leaving, escorted to our lodgings which are A type wooden cabin very sociable just l little way out of the village so nice quiet and picturesque.....
We start our trekking off to the canopy which sits 40mtrs high resting on trees its 40 mtrs long and very wobbly only 4 people are allowed on each section at one time thats fine by me.. We were the only ones on it anyway!!!!
Our second trip takes us just to one of the many hides and Gua Telinga Cave where if you are lucky you may spot some wildlife we didnt though.. The trek although very well sign posted is very hard walking with lots of hazardous like tree roots slippery slopes and some big climbs. In the cave you could climb through and slide through many caverns unguided to reach a second entrance or in our case exit.. the tunnels are so small even we have to take off our ruckies and pass them through, there are lots of bats birds and spiders to keep us company and keep us moving swiftly through..
The easier routes done we try something a bit more challenging we are off to lake Berkoh.. We travel up river by boat which again struggles to get through past the dried up sections.. poor little boy (man) has to get out of the boat and drag us through makes you feel little guilty!!! Because of the water level we werent expecting much over the rapids and in the lake.. Well I'm straight into the water (as usual) but only to my shoulders so about 4ft deep enough to get wet.. we enjoy a nice picnic on the riverside and return to the boat for a much easier journey down river,,
Last day and refreshed after our lazy day yesterday we tackle mount Indah 343mtrs ( beautiful Mountain) Now this is serious it takes you straight up on a vertical climb for 3hrs over a very strenuous terrain but we make it only to sit for maybe half hour and start our way down.. The views are stunning and worth every very hot and wet step.. we retrun to civilization to enjoy 1,2, or 3 ice cold beers mmh!! to get this worthy beer we have to enter the posh side of the river as we approach the restaurant covered in mud and leeches and very sweaty we are guided to the outside veranda around the back!! mmh we would not have normally obliged but we were so longing for the beer we hung our heads and paid our money....... leeches come in 2 varieties here one is the natural one which just latches on and drains all your blood from within the other is of the human kind who just sucks your wallet...!!!!
We had a fantastic stay here and would recommend it!!!!
