Its about time I introduced the Clean Team staff. They are all fun and a great team.
Asantwa is the general manager of the Clean Team and keeps the show on the road. She is very capable and focussed as well as very supportive of my work.
The person responsible for the project in the field is the very bubbly and friendly Abi. She has been very helpful in getting my project moving. She has particularly enjoyed introducing me to Ganaian food. I will get her back for it.
Emmanuel is the service associate. He is responsible for collecting the money from the customers and keeping them happy. He is very helpful and showed me the way around on the first week. He also knows where to find sawdust which is essential for my work.
Awal is my guide and translator. He is a young guy who has become a friend over the past few weeks. He has taken it on himself to look after me and it is fair to say I could not do much without him. He was kind enough to invite me to his birthday party last week and this gave me an opportunity to see home life in Ghana.
Solo and Kwabena - these guys are the men who do the real work. They drop of and collect the waste cartridges to the homes and clean the cartridges. It's a tough job and they do it well.
The other Cranfield University student is Fastina. Kumasi is her home town so this project is personal for her. She has made settling in to this city much easier for me. She also seems to be related to everyone in the area!
Bob is staying at the same place as me and has become my restaurant buddy. He is volunteering his time to set up the financial structure and controls for the Clean Team. He has helped to keep me sane while I am staying here.
Eric is the driver the clean team use. He is our go-to-guy for anything we need. He knows the best places, the best food and the best routes in Kumasi. He is also a lot of fun and likes to dance.
James is the project manager for Unilever and was over from England for a week. This was helpful as he knows the best places to eat. He is enthusiastic and energetic and believes in this project. He is about to take up a post in Nigeria.
Dr Bob is the boss at Unilever. He is a business man who keeps an eye on the whole project. He came over from England with James.
Biogas Bob is not part of the team but a specialist in bio-diesel working in Kumasi. I have included him to show that there are lots of men called Bob.
