Another beautiful morning and another good night sleep! We enjoyed our breakfast by the lake! We decided that we were going to head to Mission Beach today and begin our journey down the coast. We had a bit of trouble finding the correct way out of the village, the roads out here aren't particularly well sign posted! Mark went to ask for a map and directions from the information centre and had a lovely chat with a lady who used to teach in London.
Using the map we eventually found our way out and headed towards Milaa Milaa, stopping off at Lake Barrine along the way, which was in a rainforest. We went for a short walk along the lake before hitting the road again. We arrived in Milaa Milaa not long after, which was a tiny little town. However we weren't particularly interested in the town as we had read that there were some beautiful waterfalls nearby so we went in search of them. We followed the waterfall trail and discovered 3 impressive, and very different from each other, waterfalls. Each one was amazing in its own way, and two we observed from the point where it hits the water and one from the top. We had some lunch near to one of them before setting out on our way to Innisfail.
The drive wasn't that great as there were lots of roadworks along the way and lots of loose chippings. It seemed to take forever but we made it! Innisfail was much bigger than we had seen over the past few days. We walked along the harbour and did a spot of food shopping and then continued on to Mission beach. The drive took longer than we thought it would but it was worth it when we found a bargain campsite right on the beach! We managed to get a good spot, so good that you only had to take 15 or so steps through a few palm trees and you were on the sand! Marvelous!! It was a beautiful beach and really quiet considering its beauty.
We made dinner and then walked along the beach as the sun was setting, very beautiful!
It was so lovely falling asleep to the sound of the sea!
