Today is officially the first day of the summer, not that you would have noticed, as it's been so hot!
We left Port Douglas to head back to Cairns to pick up the camper! We took Holly back to the rental place and they were due to take us to collect the camper but because it was returned late the previous day, it was delayed in being ready for us. So, to fill the time we went for a mooch in the shopping centre, again!! When we returned we were very excited as there was a camper from the same company sat on the forecourt, unfortunately this wasn't ours though, ours was being scrubbed and cleaned instead!
We sorted out the paperwork with Holly and fell out with the company over the cost of the tyres that were replaced. They reckoned that they had been pierced with a metal object, probably a screwdriver, but we weren't convinced! They wanted us to pay even though they said on the phone that we wouldn't, but after much dispute we came to an agreement in the end. We then set off to collect Talula the campervan!!
The paperwork took ages to sort and as we were sat there we could see her being cleaned and sorted ready for us! Finally, after being shown the ropes, we set off on our way!! woo hooo!! We had to pop back and collect our stuff from the car rental place and we headed in the direction of Mareeba, about an hours drive inland.
We stopped at a supermarket and stocked up with grub and went in search of a camp site! We spent time sorting all our bits and finding homes for everything before cooking dinner! We chilled outside and played cards, (Amy winning mostly) and had an early night.
We're both very excited for the next three weeks!!

We have noticed lots of shops and some homes putting up their Christmas decorations. It seems really odd to us because we're not used to seeing them while the weather is so warm!
