We had a good night sleep and it wasn't as hot as we thought it would be. We got sorted and had brekkie and headed towards the information centre. We decided there wasn't great deal to see or do in Mareeba and so headed down to Atherton instead. We had a mooch about town and got our snorkeling photo's developed. Atherton was less touristy than the other places we have visited and it was nice to see a 'real' Australian town.
We then went to a lookout called Holarans Hill which overlooked the surrounding countryside which was much like the English countryside endless green fields and farmland. From here we drove to the neighbouring village of Yungaburra where we found a nice campsite overlooking lake Tinaroo. We decided to stay here and chill next to the beautiful lake watching the boats and water ski's for the afternoon! It was really peaceful and we were surprised that such a beautiful lake wasn't more popular.
We had a feeling of dee ja vu late in the afternoon when a campervan parked up next to us, it was an old couple who pulled up next to us at the supermarket yesterday! They have the same style campervan as us but a different company.
We had a really chilled evening having dinner, reading, watching an old man trying to fly his kite and observing some odd looking birds! Which reminds me the birds out here are a lot more tuneful and confident about their singing voices!
