We woke to bright sunshine and the sound of noisy birds outside! They are jolly annoying!! We wondered over to the shopping centre near to us in search of breakfast. We found a smoothie bar selling a rather yummy breakfast smoothie which filled us up well! Yum!
We then wondered down towards the esplanade, mooching at the shops and keeping an eye open for campervan rentals! It is pretty around the waterfront and there are BBQ’s for you to use and plenty of benches which is cool, something that we should adopt at home perhaps! We wondered along the esplanade towards a beach, which turned out to be a bit pathetic but the walk was nice. We kept stopping to look at all the birds around the water! They were very interesting looking with their long beaks, and were searching for food! We saw hundreds more crabs and some small eel like things, but they were tiny! They beach/mud looks like it’s moving but it’s because of all the creatures moving around! There were warning signs about crocs but there were none sunbathing as we passed!
The parks and provisions for children are pretty amazing here, even I wanted to play! They have cool playgrounds with so much to do such as water play, all under shelter! We kept stopping and chilling and marveling at how amazing it is here! We really like it already!!
We headed for a late lunch but got side tracked by the campervan booking! The place we had in mind is fully booked for a while and charging silly money because its peak season so we headed to an agent. The couple were lovely and were determined to get us a camper! They can’t get us one until next Tuesday, when we wanted it on Thursday, but have offered us a really cheap car rental in the mean time. So instead we are heading up to Cape Tribulation and Port Douglas over the weekend and heading back to Cairns on Tuesday to collect the camper! This organising took a lot longer than expected and before we knew it, it was almost dinner time!
We then spent the evening down by the harbour admiring all the boats and deciding what ours will eventually look like!!
