We had a long lay in this morning as we weren't feeling great yesterday with headaches and tiredness! We woke feeling marvelous as the bed was very comfy and for once we got 2 pillows!! WOW! We had free breakfast again and Mark made the most of it by eating most of the loaf of bread!
First thing we went to Chinatown. We walked along one of the main roads and were amazed at the amount of traffic!! There was a bus station but it was so busy that the buses were queuing about 1 mile back and they weren't even moving! Crazy!
First we went to Petaling street which is just a market street where you are meant to be able to find the best bargains in Kuala Lumpur! We wandered through admiring all the fake stuff and the decorations from Chinese New Year! They even had Tiffany jewellary for sale...but you cant be too sure!
From there we went down to central market which has been running since 1888 and used to be a fish market. There were hundreds of shops/stalls selling all sorts from food to jewellery's, traditional clothing to hand carved masks and ornaments. There was lots to see and we mooched for ages! We had heard from others about how they use fish here to nibble on your feet to remove all the dry skin and to leave them feeling lovely and smooth! We stumbled across a stall which offered just this for so cheap that we couldn't leave without trying it! Everyone looked very relaxed having it done so we had a go! There were literally thousands of fish in this big pool which you dip your feet in and they all come for a nibble!! It was quite amusing as they tickled quite a lot and being the wimps that we are, we kept having to take our feet out, much to the amusement of the workers!! After they had nibbled away we went for a nibble upstairs in the food court! We weren't too impressed with our food, but it sufficed and we continued on! We wandered further around the city and towards the national Mosque and the old train station. It was a mission to find but well worth it! The Mosque was huge, but we weren't allowed in so admired from outside instead! We looked around the area for a bit before giving into the heat and jumping on the monorail and heading to KLCC, Kuala Lumpur City Centre. The station lead out into a shopping centre which is attached to the Petronas twin towers. We made our way outside to get a good look at them and spent a while trying to fit them both in for a pic! It was impossible as they are so big but we did our best! We enquired about visiting the skybridge which we are planning to do tomorrow. We spent time exploring the huge shopping centre which consisted of 6 floors of shopping and food! When we decided to leave we headed outside but quickly retreated as we watched the worst downpour of rain that we have ever seen! The amount of rain that fell in such a short amount of time was incredible and it continued for at least half an hour! Instead, we headed for KFC for some grub! We decided to catch the monorail back to where we are staying, but this soon proved to good to be true! In most cities the transport systems link up, especially the trains..but not here! We caught the monorail to the central station and then had to walk about a ¼ of a mile to the next station so that we could catch a different line! Not the most efficient transport we have used!
We had a chilled evening after a busy day!
