Got up quite late and didn’t seem to leave the hostel till late.. after we had found food etc! Headed for Calgary Tower as it was a clear day and hoped to see the Rockies. Although the views weren’t as impressive as the CN tower in Toronto, you could get a full 360 view from this one! Once the mist had lifted, we had amazing views of the mountains! Was wierd..one side of the tower was very flat yet the other was very built up! Yet again, there was a glass floor! Not as big as the CN tower, but just as scary!! Didn’t take me as long to get on it this time! Calgary Tower was 535 feet high..not as high as CN!
We then spend the afternoon exploring the city. Was very quiet – possibly because it was a Sunday but still didn’t seem to be very exciting! Calgary also has its own island like Toronto, not not with beaches!! There was a nice river running around it and many people were rafting down it!! It mainly consisted of a parl and a huge children’s playground – would be nice to spend the whole afternoon!
We ventured up to Stampede Park where they host the Wild West horsey things! The event only occurs once a year – in July. Not much to see other than then – but still..we’ve been!
On our walk back to the city we passed a memorial site for all the police officers and firefighters who have died during their service. It was a well looked after and respected area. Was nice to see – we don’t seem to have anything like that at home.
We had our first mcd’s too!! Was yum..and we were even joined but a policman having his dinner! They wear cowboy hats here!
We also met our first spider..luckily he landed on Mark! He was an odd looking thing – I think he had big eyes but Marks not convinced!!
We’ve been so lucky with the weather, was really hot again today!
Have worked out that we have travelled a total of 3655km/ 2284m so far across Canada by coach! ooooo!!
