We were up and walking at 08:00 a.m. having to take a cab to the Parliament Hill ticket office. My back must have been twisted lifting Deborah's suitcase - it's always heavier than mine - I'm sure that was the reason. We made it on time and got our four FREE tickets to the Peace Tower and Parliament Hill tour.
We picked the 2:20 pm tour so we have more than enough time to head to Micky D's for breakfast and coffee for the Hair's. From there we headed to the National Gallery so that I could get some shots for my Mexican project. It's an immense structure - very architecturally significant and it holds thousands upon thousands of paintings from hundreds of artists.
Once I finished there (the rest waited outside for me to finish my shots) we headed along the Rideau Canal Park towards the Parliament buildings so that we could make our 11:15 Peace Tower appointment. Up we all went on our 7-passenger elevator to the top, just under the clock dials. It was a glorious day - deep blue skies and warm temperatures. A real nice day for a tour. After that we headed down to take our House of Commons and Senate tour. Security guards are everywhere since that last incident a couple of years ago - better safe than sorry I suspect.
Back to our room for a quick power nap and a couple of meds which seemed to straighten me out a little - we headed out for dinner and Ian's first exposure to Poutine - I think there might just be some new Poutine shops in North Sydney.
I screwed up tonight and booked our Montreal hotels via Priceline and booked them for 30 days in the future, rather than when we actually need them tomorrow night. So hopefully I've corrected this blunder with the Assistant General Manager of the Mariott hotel in Dorval - we'll just wait and see if she does what she said she would - fingers crossed.
It's been a long day, so I'll close off. We're sleeping in tomorrow and hitting the road around noon to Montreal. Not a long trip - maybe an hour and a half, and once there we'll get some touring in before checking in - I Hope.
I'll keep you updated as to our success in Montreal, or I'll be owing Ian some big US dollars based on my screwup. Slow and sure says Ian.
Goodnight everyone and we'll update you from Montreal.
