LO QUE SE
So I've been meaning to update for a while, lo siento mucho. First of all I'm in my third and final family, but only for another week and a half. I'm happy here as well, my parents are Anabel and Miguel and I have one host brother here Adrian who is fourteen. We all get along well, laugh at dinner time and although my time with them is shor it is definitely sweet. They took me to San Sebastián so I could see it finally and I've been there twice since, once for a day with a friend and the second time for a Rotary conference (they actually did something AND included us!! ). Ana has never had a girl in the house like Sandra and I think she's enjoying that, we talk a lot and about everything which is nice - I feel comfortable here. Miguel smokes but it's not as bad as Fernando, he likes old things and Sunday morning's we're been going just the two of use to old caves and castles so that's nice. Adrian is a swimmer and I guess an average fourteen year old boy. He asks a lot of questions and we talk about a lot of different things, we want to go see the last Osasuna game so we're working together to convince the "padres".
The Rotary conference last week end was interesting if not anything else… they made us wait around a lot because the actual conference part wasn't for us except for ten minutes where we introduced ourselves. All nine of us did that and then Matt and I talked a little extra (he's mr goody two shoes and I just like to talk) because they asked us to. I ended up talking more than him (and I think with better grammar - he has six years on me in studying) but that's because he was hung over from his graduation party. Then we went to a "Sidería" where it smells like a farm because of fermentation and all the hard cider. We learned how to properly fill your glass from the enormous barrel and at the end we were all a tad tipsy and the Rotary men were telling us to get more. Yes, this was a Rotary Conference, and at two in the afternoon; this is Spain. We also ate steak, each weighing more than a kilo and quite rare. After lunch us students with our jefe went for a walk, got some ice cream and hung out on the beach before going home.
Today was my last day of classes. I had my global exams last week (only failed one!) and next week are recuperation exams that I've decided not to take so I can focus on my Spanish exam next Friday that is the only real grade I will bring back with me (that cost me 150 euros). There are classes for the rest of this week but I'm going somewhere tomorrow - it will be a surprise in my next blog :). Everything is winding down to an end, my parents come in eleven days, then my exchange is over. After my trip with my family I will be living at a friends house until the 20th of July when I return to Wolfville accompanied by the mentioned friend. I am very excited for all this. Today though being my last official day wasn't anything special, but that's okay. I got my grades, an actual piece of paper with numbers on it! I've been excluded from this all year until now. It was missing two of my course but one teacher hand wrote it and the other is better kept off the page. I passed all my courses minus Math and history. Math because I didn't care enough to study really hard… looking back it wasn't that hard. And History that, well, is una mierda. I like the class itself but even when I study I just don't get it or am always missing something that then is on the tests. But I'm not complaining about this because it's now over and I actually finished with grades higher than other people, the ones who need them, and in my environmental science course higher than my friend… is it wrong to get satisfaction out of this? Today looking at the global exam for enviroscience my friend Marina made me smile; she got exactly two points higher than me (out of ten) and after giving eachother happy faces from across the room she said "yeah but it's in my language :)" I constantly shock people by the fact that I knew no spanish when I came eight months ago.
