Wow, it's turned so cold out here! Yesterday we set off for the Statue of Liberty not thinking of how many layers we should have put on. We stood shivering in the queue in our t-shirts and fleeces, jealous of everyone in their big winter coats. However the statue was amazing so we quickly took some pics and headed back to the hostel to layer up!
Once re-dressed we headed off to the Natural History Museum for a look around. There were loads of stuffed animals in there, we were shocked by the size of some of them.
We went for a barbeque dinner last night. It was really nice but couldn't understand how chicken and chips was served with a lump of sponge cake (known here as cornbread). Did not taste good with ketchup. As we enjoyed the views from the Empire State Building so much, we decided to take advantage of our ticket and have a look at night. We could not believe how different it looked, but still breathtaking. Our photos do not do it justice. Looking out you can just see lights for miles.
As it was our last day with our pass, we started off with a tour of Rockefeller Centre. We looked very touristy with headphones on. We then had a tour of NBC studios and then on to a tour of Radio City Music Hall. It was massive and we managed to get a photo with a Rockette. You will see from the picture how British we look. She looked and talked like a Stepford Wife. On the way back it started to snow!! Very pretty but extremely cold.
We were lucky enough on our first night to have our four bedded room to ourselves so we could settle in. However, the next day, we had a couple of Japanese girls join us for two days. They were very friendly and quiet apart from when they moved out at 6am. We've never heard a plastic bag being rustled so much. Last night we had the room to ourselves again but have returned this afternoon to two sleeping Swedish girls that have come from L.A. Thought we'd let them sleep and update you guys. We have also tried Pretzels that you can find on every corner out here and have also discovered that we can get tea and coffee in our hostel (very handy). You may notice we are wearing a lot of the same clothes. This is because we are trying to wear most of them to keep our body warmth in. Roll on the L.A. weather.
Hope everyone is well and congratulations Tarnya. xxx
Ps - forgot to mention, Marie walked around for half the day with bird poo down her arm and neither of us noticed!!!
