Well haven't we been busy.
We had a great send off, sad to leave everyone but we are now having a great time. We were impressed with our flight over which had good entertainment, food and leg room. We had our own personal tele which meant we did not get any kip as we were watching movies or playing games (reversi, Sam). We have already started trying new things including horseradish (which we don't like) and carrot cake (which we do). We arrived OK at the hostel but had to lug our backpacks up three flights of stairs, we weren't impressed. The lockers are also too small so we had to negotiate with them and unpack bits and then eventually managed to shove them in. Marie volunteered to take top bunk but soon regretted the decision when she had difficulty getting up there. She then realised they had no barriers so she now sleeps with her small backpack at her side to stop her falling out. As New York is 5 hours behind, we were in bed by 8pm. This also meant that we woke early as all our timings were out. Krisha was twiddling her thumbs at 3am.
Day one, we were washed and dressed by 7am. We found ourselves a nice cafe to get a hearty breakfast before setting off. First stop was Times Square where we visited M&M world (but no sign of peanut butter M&Ms Vick). We then went to Rockafella Center, Bloomingdales and Tiffanys (you'd be proud Sam, we were in our pac-a-macs). We also went to Little Italy, China Town, Wall Street, Trump Tower, Ground Central Station and paid our respects at Ground Zero. We can safely say we have never done so much walking in one day but enjoyed every minute of it. As it was Krisha's birthday, we went to Planet Hollywood for dinner where we had a big American meal. We collapsed into bed that night.
Day two, we started at Madame Tussards where we met many of our idols and Marie is now in love with Usher. It was then of to Empire State Building where we went on a simulator ride of New York and then up to the 86th floor of the building. We could see for miles and the views were amazing. Then it was off to Central Park Zoo for a look around as we have bought a money saving pass for New York attractions. Krisha is also an expert on the roads and subway and Marie has not got a clue. We find that the safest way is the subway judging by the driving out here. We can't figure out how the green man works (when he's lit up, the cars still go).
Our feet hurt so we thought we'd update you guys. Hope you enjoy the photo's and we'll update again soon. Love all the messages, keep it up. xxx
