Maria's 2006-7 Round the World Trip
Well, hello there,
Yes it has been a while since I updated this journal, apologies for that. I have just been sooo busy working and saving money, as well as spending far too much time in the pub (some things never change). I'm also in the processs of moving house, which I mentioned to some of you.
I've found a lovely little studio, close to the beach, so my dream of living alone has finally come true. I am moving tomorrow so its all a bit chaotic really!
I have just got back from a weekend in the Blue Mountains (Katoomba). They are a 2 hour train journey west of Sydney and absolutely beautiful. A bit like being home in the Lake District but the blue mountains national park is incredibly large.
Myself and 4 friends decided to take the trip and do some sightseeing. We were rather proud of ourselves that after a very big lunch we set off on a three hour walk.
It was gorgeous weather as Spring is here now, so we had very clear views when we visited the 3 sisters, echo point and Katoomba falls - all very spectacular. Although I love Sydney, its was great to get away and breathe some country air and relax completely away from city life.
I have uploaded some piccies but once again my photography skills leave a lot to be desired! At least I tried!
Kootomba is a small village that has loads of quaint little shops and cafes, it reminded me a lot of Grange-over-Sands (in Cumbria) so needless to say not the most liveliest of places so we bought some goon (a cheap box of wine to you and me) and sat in the YHA playing pictionary and various card games.
It was a really good weekend, I think all of us felt very relaxed by the end of it.
Back in Sydney now, is 33 degrees today and its getting hotter, I am very happy but I should go and pack my things (again) for the move tomorrow.
Until next time...... from a trip to Canberra in October I think.........take care
