Hey there everyone,

Ok, its been a while since I updated my travel journal, the reason being that I haven't done any travelling! But, I am now in Coffs Harbour (the biggest town between Sydney and Brisbane) on the first day of my trip up the East Coast to celebrate the fact that I am getting old / my birthday!

I haven't been to bed as I had to get up to leave for the airport at 4am so I didn't think it was worth going to bed! Feeling it a little now though. Its only a 40 minute flight from Sydney, or if you are really stupid a 9 hr road trip (flights are cheaper if you shop around). So I had a good flight although it was a bit bumpy, you all know what i am like about flying.

So I have spent the day on the beach. It is so quiet here I had most of it to myself. It has been 34 degrees today, and I am very ashamed to say that I have a patch of sunburn. The problem is that I didnt have a nice young man to rub my factor 35 into the middle of my back. I thought that I had managed it, but I have a very interesting shaped red patch on my back, where I have clearly missed. EVerywhere else is lovely and brown already, so I was obviously do a good job elsewhere. I've never had a sun tan on my birthday before :)

There isn't a great deal to do here but its perfect for the start of my trip, chilling with my book on the beach. I have had a lovely day pottering about and exploring the town. Tomorrow I am going to a different beach in the north and more relaxing and sitting in the sun.

On Tuesday I am off to Byron Bay.........more beaches, I can't wait.
