Well here we are "Sleepless in Seattle" its our last stop in the USA before going back to Canada, and boy are we glad we gave ourselves a week here this place is packed with things to do. We arrived early evening yesterday and were picked up at the train station by friends of Mel's Auntie Hazel (Sharon and Alan.) They have been kind enough to put us up for the week in their house, for which we are really grateful. Alan took us for a quick drive around the West Seattle area to orientate ourselves including a trip to Alki Beach. But it was today that our look around the city began in earnest. We took the 20 minute bus ride downtown and transferred to the Monorail(built in 1962 for the World Fair)which took us to the Seattle Center and home of the Space Needle(600ft). We took aride up the needle and got a great view of the downtown area Puget Sound the Olympic and Cascade Mountains. After an hour or so we descended back to earth and luckily there was a Folklive festival in town which had crafts and music and some mean street food which we sampled, it was lovely and sunny and it was a great way to spend a couple of hours. From here we went to the Experience Music Poject (co-founded by Paul Allen of Microsoft fame) this is like a hands on music museum full of cool exhibits and a huge collection of Jimi Hendrix memorabilia. This finished our day off perfectly so we headed back to Sharon and Alan's to relax for the evening. Tomorrow is Mel's birthday so we are hoping to do something special for that!!! Loving every minute of this trip Love M & Birthday M xxx
