Firstly can I start by wishing my Mum a Happy Birthday for today, have a good time tonight!!!!
Our day started the same as the last few in the amazing humidity of Ayutthaya. Christina and her tuk tuk dropped us at the bus station and we said our goodbyes for 3 days and we left on the bus for Bangkok. I was surprised how good the journey was as my luck on the buses has not been good.Within 90 minutes we were at the Northern Terminal being hassled by the taxi paparazzi!!!!
After a bit of hand waving and talking slowly we found the connecting terminal to buy our tickets for the ride to Pattaya. We had to run for the bus as it was due to leave and we boarded all hot and sweaty. The bus was packed in true Thai style and a nice guy moved so Mel and I could sit together then Bossy conducter lady boarded and started shouting and gesturing to us to stand up and move to the back of the bus.The next few minutes were fun as we tried to reach the back of the vehicle and people from the back had to move to the front all this seemed to serve no purpose as everyone had been seated but not to bossy conductor lady's liking!!!!!
This is where our luck ran out again on the buses we got sandwiched between a sleepy lady and a fidgety lady boy who liked resting his handbag on Mels lap. My seat turned out to be half a seat designed for a midget (can I say midget!!!) and for the next 2 hours I had to manouveure my posterior to stop a metal bar from doing some damage to my rear end!!!!
Both Mel and I were a little dubious about spending the next 4 days in Thailands sex capital (we are staying out of town) but on arrival we were greeted by the tourism guy and ushered to a tuk tuk for our ride to our hotel (yes its not a typing error we splashed out on a hotel for 4 nights!!!!) The place is lovely and has a big balcony with sea views and a little light that comes on when you open draws and wardrobes!!!!
I think it was all a plot by Mel to come here as when we sat down for dinner there was pie, chips and mushy peas on the menu and Mel was in heaven!!!!
We are just sat relaxing on our balcony looking out to the sea and watching geckos eat moths as I write this blog so things are good. Tomorrow is going to be a boring job day as we need to book our transport to Cambodia for Saturday and more importantly get some money. They also have a Hard Rock Cafe here so I think we will probably have lunch there and collect another badge for my collection!!!!!
Bye from our balcony in Pattaya, will be in touch soon.
Marcus and Mel
